An ensemble dance piece created and developed with four other dancers, exploring the paradoxes of human behaviour—the immense capacity for connection and love alongside our recurring tendencies towards conflict, division and destruction. The work questions how conflict, whether personal, interpersonal or societal, shapes our bodies, relationships and the spaces we inhabit, and what we might do with the complex emotions it produces.
Developed through a combination of Contemporary and Hip Hop movement, the work uses satire, physical juxtaposition and live vocal performance to examine these contradictions. The dancers sing directly to the audience while navigating shifting relationships between individuality, collective behaviour, confrontation and connection.
Performance 3 was particularly informed by my reflections on the Israel–Iran conflict in June 2025, which prompted questions around the seemingly contradictory nature of human behaviour: why are we capable of creating such extreme forms of conflict, how do we acknowledge our own capacity for irrationality, and what can we do with the feelings that emerge from witnessing or experiencing it? These questions became a creative entry point rather than a fixed political narrative.
