For Gully Labs’ KARA collection, I collaborated as Assistant Movement Director and performer in developing a site-specific dance work for the collection’s exclusive store preview. Drawing from KARA’s exploration of the working body, movement and the physical rhythms of labour, I worked alongside a fellow dancer to map the store’s first floor through a five-minute movement score combining Hip Hop with an abstracted physical language inspired by karya—the hands, gestures and rhythms of people who keep India moving. The store itself became part of the choreography, with movement extending across and around its architecture through interactions with concrete pillars, levels and a large sewing table. The resulting work brought together dance, space, garments and objects to situate KARA within the environment and processes from which the collection draws.
